The aging judge was well-known, but no one had ever heard of his collaborator, or the obscure institute she worked for. Together, they assembled a very persuasive legal brief for review by the Supreme Court, based on an interesting new theory of law. Our young reporter was the first to write an article about it. Within hours, things were falling apart, and it may take lifetimes to put them back together again.
